A Pleasant Day in May

As my cellphone chimes to notify me that the National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory for freezing rain and sleet tomorrow morning, I’m reminded of a pleasant spring walk through Cleveland’s old Ohio City neighborhood a few years ago.  As I walked through the tree lined streets of nicely maintained and often restored homes, I happened to look up at the trim on a Victorian style cottage and saw this white cat sitting on the window sill of this opened window.

What a life!  Restfully sitting, watching the world go by.  Not a care in the world!

My interest in photography began as a college newspaper and yearbook photographer during the stormy 1960s and 1970s. I was influenced by many of the great photojournalists and documentary photographers such as W. Eugene Smith, Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Gordon Parks, Margaret Bourke-White and other black and white photographers of Life Magazine and the earlier Farm Security Administration. Though many of these photographers documented the horrors of war and the plight of poverty, they also showed me the dignity and adaptability of human beings in their desire to prevail.

    It’s probably been said before but all that comes to mind is “Purr”-fect. It kind of reminds me of a song with the words that go “I was looking back to see if your were looking back at me”. Thanks for sharing this one is a good one.
