Now that cooler weather is setting in, it’s time to go back and edit some of the photos that I took over the summer and never had time to work on. Today I went back to the photos taken during Cleveland’s Tall Ship Parade of Sail on July 3rd. This first photo, enhanced to look old and worn, depicts the Canadian Brigantine Playfair. The Playfair trains youths aged 13-18 with a crew of youth officers aged 15-18 with the captain being the only adult on board. Each training cruise lasts 2 weeks while cruising from port to port on the Great Lakes.
The three masted schooner Denis Sullivan flies the U.S. flag and it’s home port is Milwaukee, WI. It is the flagship of Wisconsin and operates as a floating classroom and goodwill ambassador for the state of Wisconsin. She winters in Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
All of the tall ships were quite majestic. The day however was extremely overcast and hazy. Enhancing the photos in Photoshop and with the Nik Software plug-ins enabled me to add texture and drama to what were otherwise rather mediocre photos of beautiful ships!
Just so beautiful. My favorites.
